16th Finance Commission holds series of meetings in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Sep 9 (UNI) The 16th Finance Commission held a series of meetings on Monday at Praja Bhavan, Begumpet.
The meetings were chaired by Dr Arvind Panagariya, with commission members Ajay Narayan Jha, Annie George Mathew, Dr Manoj Panda, and Soumya Kanti Ghosh in attendance, official sources said.
Prominent state officials including Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary of the Finance Department, Municipal Department Principal Secretary Dana Kishore, GHMC Commissioner Amrapali, Water Board MD Ashok Reddy, Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijaya Lakshmi, Warangal Mayor Gundu Sudharani, and Warangal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashwini Rakade Tanaji participated in the meeting.
Representatives from 17 municipalities, including Nizamabad Mayor Neetu Kiran, Firjadiguda Mayor Amarsingh, Badanga Peta Mayor Chigurintha Parijata, and Medak Municipal Chairman Chandrapal, were also present.
The meeting covered discussions with the State Finance Commission, led by Chairman Sirisilla Rajaiah, and included members Sankepalli Sudhir Reddy, Nehrunaik, Malkud Ramesh, and Secretary Smita Sabharwal. Separate sessions were also held with representatives of rural local bodies.
In addition to government representatives, the commission met with industrial associations ALIF, FICCI, and CII.
A meeting with representatives of various political parties was also conducted. Attendees included Sirisilla Rajaiah and T Rammohan Reddy from Congress, Etala Rajender, Kasam Venkateswarlu, and Prakash Reddy from BJP, T Harish Rao and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy from BRS, along with representatives from CPM, TDP, BSP, MIM, and Aam Aadmi Party, the sources added.
