Hyderabad, Aug 16 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao participated in the mass recital of the National Anthem held at the statue of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru near Abids GPO Circle here on Tuesday.
KCR and the participants sung the national anthem with one voice.
Students from educational institutions joined the chorus in the recital of the national anthem.
The reciting of National Anthem was part of the two-week Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsavam programmes being conducted by the state government.
The government had earlier appealed to citizens across the state to stand wherever they are at exactly 11.30 am and sing the National Anthem.
The mass recital was organised at 11.30 am across the state where the national anthem was sung by the people.
Large crowds gathered at several major junctions in the city and sang the National Anthem together at the stroke of 11.30 AM.
Vehicular traffic came to a halt due to mass singing of national anthem for 10 minutes and the traffic signals turned Red.
Traffic congestion was reported at many places.
At the traffic junctions in the city, people were seen standing in full respect for the anthem which was played in all the public address systems.
Hyderabad metro trains was stopped for a minute at 1130 hours and National Anthem was played in the trains & at the metro stations.
Passengers stood up in respect of the anthem in the trains.
