Indian satellite Cartosat pictures shows sediment deposit, disappearance of buildings due to floods in Uttarkashi

Chennai, Aug 8 (UNI) Indian space agency has said fan-shaped deposits of sediments and debris, total disappearance/complete/partial destruction of buildings and other damages were seen at the Dharali village due to the flash flood in the Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand with the satellite pictures.
Scientific analysis is being carried out to ascertain the cause of the triggering event, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) added.
ISRO said that a rapid assessment of the flood damage was done along with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) using very high-resolution satellite images of the country’s Cartosat-2S satellite.
