168 new Covid cases in Pondy in 24 hours

Puducherry, July 6 (UNI) Coronavirus cases registered a sudden spurt with 168 more persons compared to 91 Tuesday tested positive in the last 24 hours ending at 10 AM on Wednesday pushing the tally of infection to 167091 in the union territory.
According to a statement from the health department, of the 2452 swab tests taken Tuesday ,168 tested positive for the virus.132 new cases were reported in Puducherry region,31 in Karaikal and five in Yanam regions.As many as 81 persons were treated and discharged in the last 24 hours leaving 629 active cases here.Of the 629 active cases ,620 are under home isolation and nine hospitalized.
So far,167091 persons are infected by the virus of which 164500 are treated and discharged and 1962 died leaving 629 active cases here.The test positivity rate in the UT is 6.85 percent,case fatality rate 1.17 percent and recovery rate 98.45 percent.
