Hyderabad, Sep 7 (UNI) BJP Telangana unit on Monday said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should apologize to generations of the past and future of the state for not celebrating “Telangana Liberation Day” on September 17.
In a statement here, its Chief Spokesperson K Krishna Saagar Rao said, Mr Rao, popularly known as KCR, has been undermining the actual history of Telangana by manipulating and appropriating it for his petty political expediency.
He demanded the Chief Minister to explain to the people of Telangana, why his party TRS and his government is not officially declaring September 17 as a historic milestone and celebrating it ?
Why did he make a 360 degree flip on his earlier demand of celebrating this historic day, when he was not in power ?
Does Mr Rao not recognize the atrocities of Nizam and his militia Razakars on the poor and deprived people of Telangana ? Doesn't he know that Nizam is a foriegn occupier and not an indigenous king ?.Doesn't he believe centuries of this foriegn ruler's regime ended on September 17, 1948 ?
KCR has been consistently evasive on a promise he made on several occasions, prior to becoming a Chief Minister in reference to declaring September 17 as 'Telangana Liberation Day'. What should the people of Telangana call a man, who didn't keep his word , the BJP leader questioned.
“BJP wants people of Telangana to see through KCR's brazen muslim appeasement, at the cost of undermining sacrifices of freedom fighters, who fought against Nizam for the independence of Telangana ”, Mr Saagar said.
The BJP Chief spokesperson said, the day BJP comes to power in Telangana, it will declare September 17, on the first day itself, as 'Telangana Liberation Day' and grand celebrations will be held throughout the state.
September 17th will be a very special day for Telangana State.
Every year September 17th will be celebrated in Telangana with the same fervour, as August 15th is celebrated, he said.
Stating that BJP will also ensure a grand memorials built in the heart of Hyderabad for all the freedom fighters and peasants who fought against Nizam's oppressive regime and lost their lives, Mr Saagar said the true independence day for Telangana is September 17, 1948, and challenged the Chief Minister to publicly deny this historic fact.
