Provide house site pattas, Rs 5 lakh grant to ST people : Siva urges Pondy govt

Puducherry, Nov 6 (UNI) DMK Puducherry Unit Convener and leader of the opposition in the Assembly R Siva on Saturday urged the government to take immediate steps to provide house site pattas and a grant of Rs 5 lakh to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) people in the Union Territory to construct their houses.
In a statement, Mr Siva said majority of the ST people were living here for longer period without any documents and hence basic facilities such as power and water connection were not provided to them.
Because of the recent rains, they suffered a lot. In view of this, the demand to provide house site pattas and grant be considered and executed before the next rainy season, he said.

to the18th Lok Sabha from Tamil Nadu, which began on Friday morning, progressed
smoothly, amid tight security.
