Accept Pondy govt demand to extend GST compensation period till 2027 : Ramadass

Puducherry, Sep 21 (UNI) Justifying the demand of Puducherry government to extend the GST compensation period till 2027, put forth in the recent GST council meeting, former Lok Sabha member Prof M Ramadass on Tuesday urged the Centre to accept this demand .
In a statement here, Prof Ramadass also urged the Centre to make amendments in the law enacted in 2017 in this regard so that all the States and Union Territories affected by Revenue loss would be benefited.
He said the promise of the Central government to provide GST compensation will come to a close in July next year and there is a danger of Union Territory of Puducherry’s total GST Revenue coming down by Rs 400 to Rs 500 crore.
