Chennithala thanks leaders of Muslim League for relief operations at Karipur Airport

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 10 (UNI) Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala on Monday thanked the public and leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the Congress who led the relief operations at Karipur Airport during the plane accident.
Talking to newspersons here, Chennithala, who had visited the sites of the catastrophe and met with the families of victims on Saturday, expressed his deep condolences at the mishaps. The nearest of kin of those who were killed in the landslides be given an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh, he added.
On Pettimudi landslide, he said "The state government should take steps to build secure houses for workers of tea estates in Munnar. They are in poverty and the government should extend immediate help to them." The police, NDRF, Fire Force and all other officials deserve praise for selfless service in these tough times, he added.
