Belagavi, Aug 28 (UNI) Police personnel in Peerawadi village had to engage in a mild-lathi charge to disperse the crowd gathered where the Sangolli Rayanna's statue was installed without permission on Thursday.
Police said that some section of members objected the erection of Rayanna statue at the site and clash broke out between the two factions and some people started pelting stones on each other. Expecting a major clash police intervened resorted to mild lathi charge to disperse people assembled.
