Demand for Dalit CM resurfaces in Karnataka Congress

Bengaluru, Oct 2 (UNI) A demand for a Dalit chief minister in Karnataka's Congress unit has resurfaced, if one goes by the comments of deputy chief minister G Parameshwara. He said such demand could be made if Congress gained power in the next assembly election.
"Let us see. If the Congress comes back to power, yes it can also happen here, that a demand for Dalit chief minister will be raised, in the wake of a Dalit becoming chief minister in Punjab," he told reporters Saturday.
The comment comes in the wake of appointment of Charanjit Singh Channi as the first Dalit CM in Punjab. He was replaced after Captain Amrinder Singh's resignation.
