BJP delegation meets AP Governor, submits representation

Vijayawada, Spt 16 (UNI) A BJP delegation led by Andhra Pradesh State BJP president Somu Veerraju met Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan in the Rajbhavan here on Wednesday and submitted a representation urging to direct the State government to release 37 BJP activists, who were arrested by the police.The BJP in its representation informed the Governor on the attacks on Hindu temples and vandalizing of idols and chariots.
The BJP apprised the Governor that on September 5, a 62-year-old sacred chariot of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Antarvedi in East Godavari district was set on fire by miscreants, a chariot of Venkateswara Swamy temple was set on fire in January in Bitragunta town in Nellore district and idols of deities were desecrated in Pithapuram town. As many as 17 such attacks have taken place on various temples in the State, they told the Conover.“The State government has not shown seriousness in taking steps to protect temples”, the BJP informed the Governor.
The BJP informed the Governor that 37 BJP activists were arrested for allegedly hurling stones on a church and cases were registered under non-bailable sections against them. The BJP appealed to the Governor to direct the State government to release all the arrested activists.UNI DP
