Ramagundam (Telangana), Nov 12 (UNI) Alleging that some leaders (without naming TRS) from Hyderabad misleading coal mine workers and the public in the state with cooked up stories about how the central government was on its way to privatise the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) owned mines in Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday evening clarified that there is no such move by the centre to sell the SCCL or its mines.
Addressing a well gathered public meeting here, Modi said the SCCL, currently is held on a 51: 49 equity basis by the state and central governments.
The Telangana government is the major stakeholder in the Singareni by holding 51 percent equity and in such circumstances, there was no question of any privatisation of SCCL or its mines, unless the Government agreed to it, the PM clarified.
Noise being made by leaders from Hyderabad on the so-called SCCL privatisation was only for their political mileage and to create unrest among the coal miners, he said.
There is no reason for any Singareni employees or workers to worry or get agitated on the lies being spread by the leaders about the company being privatised, the PM added.
Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundarara and Union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy and other BJP senior leaders participated in the event.
