Congress will build over 100 houses for landslide survivors of Wayanad: Rahul Gandhi

Wayanad, Aug 2 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi has announced that the Congress would build over 100 houses for those who survived in Wayanad landslide disaster.
He assured that "We will provide all possible assistance to the survivors and now our main focus is on rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts". We are directed to ensure that all possible assistance is provided to our brothers and sisters.
Rahul Gandhi and his Sister Priyanka Gandhi visited the landslide-hit areas and also held a meeting with the district official about the rescue operations at the forest office of Choorimala on Thursday.
He termed this as a tragedy faced by Wayanad, which caused over 300 deaths and widespread destruction. He emphasized the rehabilitation of people in safe areas and offered all assistance to the affected families.
He opined " Kerala has never witnessed a tragedy in one area as devastating as the one in Wayanad this time. I will raise this issue with both the Union and State Governments, as this tragedy demands a unique and urgent response."
He also visited the relief camp set up at St Joseph school in Mundakkai and met one of the victims Zubaidah and her mother Nabeesa. They shared the pain of losing everything with them including the loss of their house and the marriage of their daughter Fida Fathima.
Rahul Gandhi assured Nabeesa that the marriage of her daughter would take place at the proper time and directed the Leader of the opposition in Kerala Assembly V D Satheeshan to assist her in conducting the marriage of her daughter and building a house for them.
