KHRC Chairman, 2 members visit Pamba to assess facilities

Sabarimala, Nov 20 (UNI) A three-member team of Kerala Human Rights Commission (KHRC) headed by its Chairman on Tuesday reached Pamba to assess the facilities provided to Ayyappa devotees.
Following complaints that there was a gross violation of Human Rights of Sabarimala devotees, the Commission decided to visit Nilakkal, Pamba and Sannidanam to take stock of the condition.
Earlier, Commission member P Mohana Das said Ayyappa devotees who throng the hill shrine during this season are denied all basic amenities.
Taking a strong view over the lack of facilities as lakhs of devotees throng the shrine from all over the country and abroad, the Commission directed the Travancore Devawom Board (TDB) Commissioner, Secretary LSGD and DGP to intervene in the matter urgently.
The toilet facilities are so poor that human faecus are now flowing in Pamba river making it more filthy causing severe health hazard to the devotees and others
The devotees were denied water in toilets forcing the devotees to make pampa river filthy, the release said.
Commission Chairman Justice Antony Dominic, members K Mohan Kumar and P Mohana Das reached Pamba this morning.
