CM to meet Collectors over heavy rains

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 1 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday called an urgent meeting of District Collectors to coordinate relief work and assess damages in view of heavy rains in several parts of the state.
The Chief Minister also visited the office of the State Disaster Management Authority and took stock of the situation. The meeting was attended by officials including Chief Secretary Dr V P Joy.
A red alert was announced on Monday in seven districts: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam.
