Maddur, Aug 6 (UNI) The 'Mysuru Chalo' protest march entered its fourth day on Tuesday with the combined Opposition of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (Secular) ramping up their demand for the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over corruption.
The controversy revolves around an alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam, with accusations of fraudulent allotments, including a plot granted to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi.
The march, which started in Nidaghatta, spanned 20 kilometers to reach the Mandya district headquarters.
BJP State President B Y Vijayendra, former Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan, and Deputy Leader of Opposition Arvind Bellad led a sea of supporters and party workers.
The air was filled with the sounds of drum beats and fervent chants against the Chief Minister, as participants carried BJP and JD(S) flags, creating a colourful yet intense atmosphere.
The fourth day of the padayatra showcased a unified Opposition determined to highlight what they allege as corruption within the state government.
The streets along the protest route were adorned with party flags, buntings, and portraits of prominent leaders, adding to the sense of a political carnival.
For the BJP and JD(S), this protest is not merely a display of discontent but a strategic effort to sway public opinion and hold the government accountable. The allegations against Siddaramaiah and his family have only intensified the Opposition's campaign, painting a narrative of a government marred by scandal and corruption.
