Vijayawada, May 25 (UNI) After his spectacular victory in the Assembly Election a couple of days ago, YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was unanimously elected as leader of the Legislature party, on Saturday.
The YSRCP Legislature Party meeting was held in the state office at Tadepalli, near here.
The YSRCP legislators formally elected Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy as their leader.
YSRCP MLA Botsa Satyanarayana proposed the resolution, electing Mr Reddy as YSRCP Legislature party leader, and MLAs Darmana Prasada Rao and Kolusu Parthasarathi seconded it.
YSRCP sources said a YSRCP delegation comprising MLAs Botsa Satyanarayana, Dharmana Prasada Rao and Buggana Rahendranath would go to Hyderabad today to meet Governor E S L Narasimhan.
They would submit the resolution copy, passed by the YSRCP legislative party electing mr Jagan Mohan Reddy as their leader, and urge him to invite their leader to form the government.
Addressing the newly elected MLAs, Mr Reddy said that 'he would bring administrative reforms in the governance and added that people reposed faith on him and gave landslide mandate'.
He exhorted the MLAs to keep up the faith of people. “The 2019 elections concluded. We must target
the 2024 elections. We should go to polls in 2024 by projecting party performance” he said.
Citing the TDP winning 23 MLA seats, the YSRCP President mocked the former for purchasing 23 YSRCP MLAs and 3 MPs and encouraged defections. Coinciding it, the TDP now won 23 MLA seats and 3 MP seats, he added.
Meanwhile, arrangements are being made for the swearing-in-ceremony of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The oath taking ceremony would be held here on May 30 and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao would participate in it.
