Hyderabad: GHMC spends Rs 13 cr for safety kits to all sanitary and entomology workers

Hyderabad, Jul 6 (UNI) Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is spending about Rs 13 crore for distribution of safety kits to all the sanitary and entomology workers working in GHMC limits, Minister for Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao (KTR) said here on Monday.
Speaking after distribution of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) safety kits to GHMC entomology and sanitation staff here, KTR appreciated the efforts of GHMC sanitation, entomology and Disaster Response Force (DRF) workers in containing the spread of coronavirus in the municipal corporation limits.
The municipal corporation is spending about Rs.13 crore for distribution of safety kits to all the 22,000 sanitary workers and 2,500 entomology workers, the Minister said the State government will extend all support to the sanitary, entomology and DRF staff and directed to use the safety kits religiously while on duty.
Each of these kits is worth Rs 6,710 comprising 56 masks, two pairs of gloves, sanitiser bottle, six litres of coconut oil, 36 soaps, one bath towel, one pair of shoes, one cap, a raincoat and a GHMC jacket.
Similarly, the kits to be offered for sanitary workers cost Rs 4,100 each (females) and Rs 4,300 (males).
GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar informed the Minister that till date, about 1.80 lakh cloth masks, 27,000 pairs of hand gloves and 25,000 litres of hand sanitisers were distributed to the sanitation, entomology and veterinary workers at their respective circle offices.
The distribution of the safety kits will be completed in three weeks.
The unabated surge in coronavirus cases continued with 1419 testing positive in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Limits out of 1831 new cases reported in the state on Monday, the second-highest single-day since the outbreak of virus-infected diseases, as the total number of cases reached 20,488 in GHMC limits.
