Telangana records 224  new COVID-19 cases, one  fatality until Sunday night

Hyderabad, Jan 11 (UNI) Telangana added 224 fresh Coronavirus cases until 2000 hours on Sunday pushing the COVID-19 caseload to 2,90,008 so far.
The state recorded one COVID-19 death afresh to take the total death toll to 1,566 so far translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Monday.
In all, 461 people have recovered from Coronavirus between Saturday and Sunday taking the cumulative number of recoveries in the state till date to 2,83,924 constituting a recovery rate of 97.90 per cent as against the National average of 96.4 per cent.
Currently, the active cases in the state stand at 4,518 including 2,439 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
As of Sunday, 24,785 swab samples have been tested to detect the contagious virus in the state and of which the reports of 450 swab samples were awaited.
More than 72.78 lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) remained the major contributor of Coronavirus positive cases by reporting 56 fresh cases in the last 24 hours followed by Ranga Reddy district (26), Medchal Malkajigiri and Karimnagar districts 13 each.
The remaining COVID-19 cases were reported by other districts, the bulletin added.
