Telangana records highest single-day spike in COVID-19 positive cases till Tuesday night

Hyderabad, Aug 26 (UNI) Telangana recorded its highest single-day jump of 3,018 positive Coronavirus cases till 2000 hours on Tuesday night pushing the cumulative number of cases to 1,11,688 so far.
The contagious virus claimed 10 lives taking the COVID-19 death toll in the state to 760 constituting a case fatality rate of 0.69 per cent as against the country-wide mortality rate of 1.84 per cent.
Between Monday and Tuesday night,1,060 patients had recovered pushing the total recoveries till date to 85,223 with a recovery rate of 76.30 per cent, while the country-wide recovery rate was 75.92 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Wednesday.
Of the 29,146 COVID-19 sample tests conducted till Tuesday night, the reports of 1,176 are awaited.
The total number of COVID-19 sample tests carried out so far in the state stood at 10,82,094.
There were now 25,685 active cases of the contagious virus in the state, the bulletin added.
Ramping up the COVID-19 sample tests, the state health authorities had conducted 61,040 tests
between Monday and Tuesday.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits reported 475 new positive cases, followed by Ranga Reddy district (247), Medchal Malkajigiri district (204), Nalgonda district (190) and Khammam district (161).
The remaining fresh positive cases were reported from other districts in the state.
Meanwhile,the state health department officials exuded confidence that by the end of
September the virus will be fully under control and the people can get back to their normal lives.
