Puducherry, Jul 27 (UNI) Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi on Monday said that the Coronavirus challenge in here is very high as it is integrated with the population of neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.
In a whatsapp posting, she said people have to be self law abiding for their own self interest and protection and not out of fear of getting breaking the rules as every one in five in Puducherry is infected, as per the data available.
Ms Bedi said there is a need for sustained visible messaging so that the people keep alert that they are their own protectors as well as carriers for others.
They have to work on their personal habits of working, living, eating and sharing because till this virus is made preventable, it can be contracted by any small mistake of negligence, she added.
This will immediately impact themsleves and all who they come in contact with and hence, it is a whole new learning and unlearning for the society as a whole, Ms Bedi said.
The Lt Governor said persons in containment zone and quarantine need to follow the guidelines strictly for their own safety and of the people. The neighbours of patients in quarantine or in containment zones, while taking due precautions, need to be a social support system and inform 104 for any help that they need, she said.
It is the overall mutual understanding and cooperation and coordination that will check COVID spread in Puducherry. In the process, precious lives too will be saved of those who are vulnerable like the children, the elderly, those already suffering from other diseases which require strong immunity to fight back.
Ms Bedi said people must also build their own internal immunity by using AYUSH medicines and other useful home remedies given to us by the Ayurvedic knowledge and added that fighting back COVID has to be now a people’s movement and all have to play their own roles fully.
