Puducherry, Nov 12 (UNI) Coronavirus infection in the Union Territory continued to decline further with just 66 persons testing positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Two patients died during the period.
According to the COVID 19 status released by the health department here on Thursday, of the 3,545 swab sample tests conducted on Wednesday, 66 persons were tested positive for the virus.
About 50 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 6 in Karaikal region, one in Yanam region and 9 in Mahe region.
As many as 69 persons were discharged during the last 24 hours. 49 of them were from Puducherry region, one from Karaikal region, 8 from Yanam region and 11 from Mahe region.
One death each were reported in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
Presently, 272 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 11 each in Karaikal and Yanam regions and 51 in Mahe region.
Another 726 Coronavirus patients were taking treatment under home isolation in all the four regions of the UT.
So far, 36,179 persons were infected by the virus and of which 34,501 patients were treated and discharged, 607 persons died and 1071 patients were being treated in hospitals and home isolation.
The case mortality rate in the UT remains at 1.68 percent and recovery rate is 95.36 percent.
A 58-year-old man with Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension as comorbidity died in Jipmer due to Covid Pneumonia/ARDS and Septic shock while, an 82-year-old women died in the Karaikal Government hospital due to Covid Pneumonia and ARDS.
She was having comorbidity of Hypertension, CAD and Dilated Cardiomyopathy.
