200 more test positive for COVID-19, 1 dies in UT since last 24 hrs

Puducherry, Aug 2 (UNI) As many as 200 more persons tested positive for the Coronavirus, taking the total number of active cases to 1445 and a patient died in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours.
According to the COVID 19 status released by the Health Department here on Sunday, 161 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 7 in Karaikal region and 32 in Yanam region.
As many as 42 persons tested positive for the virus were admitted to the government medical college, 28 to Jipmer, three to Covid Care Center(CCC), 88 to be admitted, seven to Karaikal Government hospital and 32 to Yanam Government Hospital.
As may as 104 patients were treated and discharged in the last 24 hours. 30 were discharged from the government medical college, 26 from Jipmer, 42 from CCC, and three each from Karaikal and Yanam Government hospitals.
Presently, 333 patients are being treated in the government medical college, 321 in Jipmer, 292 in CCC, 88 to be admitted, 51 in Karaikal GH and 118 in Yanam GH.
Another 242 persons are being treated in home isolation.
There are no COVID cases at present in Mahe region of the UT.
So far 3806 persons were infected by the virus and of which 2309 were treated and discharged, 52 died and 1203 patients being treated in hospitals and 242 in home isolation.
Meanwhile, Director of Medical Services Dr Mohan Kumar in a Whatsapp posting said that a 65-year-old man from Pangur here, who was admitted to Jipmer on July 24 died at 1125 hours on August 1 due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and COVID Pneumonia sequelae.
