64 test positive for Coronavirus, 1 dies in UT since last 24 hrs

Puducherry, Jul 11 (UNI) As many as 64 persons tested positive for Coronavirus while a patient died in the Union territory since the last 24 hours.

With the fresh cases, the total number of active cases in the UT has risen to 629.

According to the COVID 19 status released by the Puducherry Health Department on Saturday, 48 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 10 in Karaikal region, five in Yanam and one in Mahe regions.

The patient undergoing treatment succumbed to the virus at the Government Medical College taking the total COVID deaths in the UT to 18.

39 persons tested positive for the virus were admitted to the Government Medical College, 9 to Jipmer, 10 to Karaikal Government General Hospital, 5 to Yanam Government Hospital and one to Mahe General Hospital.

Meanwhile, 53 persons were discharged from hospitals after they had recovered since the last 24 hours.

While, 22 were discharged from Government Medical College,18 from Jipmer, 11 from Covid Care Center (CCC) and two from Karaikal GGH.

Presently 389 patients are being treated in the Government Medical College,107 in Jipmer, 62 in CCC, 43 in Karaikal GGH, 25 in Yanam GH and 3 in Mahe GH.

So far, 1337 persons were infected by the virus and of which 690 were treated and discharged,18 died and 629 patients being treated in the hospitals.
