72 test positive for COVID-19, 1 dies in UT since last 24 hrs

Puducherry, Jul 10 (UNI) As many as 72 persons tested positive for Coronavirus, taking the total number of active cases to 618, while one patient died since the last 24 hours in the Union Territory.



According to the COVID status released by the Health Department here on Friday, 67 cases were reported in Puducherry region and five in Karaikal region.

Of them, 60 persons were admitted to the Government Medical College, 7 to Jipmer and 5 to Karaikal Government General hospital.

The patient succumbed to the virus in Karaikal region on Thursday evening.

This is the second COVID death in the Karaikal region.

Meanwhile, 19 patients were treated and discharged after they have recovered during the last 24 hours.

Fifteen patients were discharged from the Government Medical College, two from Jipmer and two from Karaikal GGH.

Presently 372 persons are being treated in the Government Medical College,116 in Jipmer, 73 in Covid Care Center (CCC), 35 in Karaikal GGH, 20 in Yanam GH and two in Mahe GH.

So far 1272 persons in the UT were infected by the virus and of which 637 were treated and discharged, 17 died and 618 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals.
