Karunya Health Insurance Scheme supports 14 lakh people in two years

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 16 (UNI) The Karunya Health Insurance Scheme (Karunya Arogya Suraksha Pathadi - KASP) implemented by the Kerala Government to provide financial assistance for the treatment of the general public was extended to over 14 lakh families in the last two years.
About Rs 1,000 crores were spent on medical treatment benefits during this period. Financial assistance amounting to Rs 13 crores were provided for dialysis of 1.4 lakh persons and Rs 181 crores for heart treatment of 37,427 persons. As many as 3,600 Covid patients were treated under the scheme.
An amount of Rs 84 crores were sanctioned for cancer treatment of 69,842 beneficiaries and Rs 15 crores for kidney treatment of 7,707 beneficiaries. About 3,600 persons infected with Covid disease have also benefited from this treatment funding scheme of the government.
