Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 18 (UNI) Kerala registered 7,631 new COVID-19 cases and 8,410 recoveries on Sunday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said.
"Of the positive cases reported on Sunday, 6,685 people were infected through contact and the source of infection was unknown for 723. There are 63 healthcare workers among those infected," the minister said here this evening.
She said 22 deaths were confirmed Sunday due to COVID, taking the related death toll in the state to 1,161. The deceased have been identified as Gopalakrishnan (62), Thresiamma (82), Sarojam (63) and Beema from Thiruvananthapuram district, Sebastian (84) from Alappuzha district; Agnes (73), Amulya (16); Ashraf (56) and Balakrishnan (84) from Ernakulam district, Radha Bhaskaran (75) and Parukutty (83) from Thrissur district; Alavi (63), Ibrahim Kutty (83), Mohammad Rafi (54), Mujeeb Rahman (47), Nabeesa (75) and Sundaran (62) from Palakkad district; Kadijabeevi (75), Moosa (74) and Ummathukutty (73) from Malappuram district, and Shahrbanu (44) and Soumini (65) from Kozhikode district, she added.
