Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 15 (UNI) Kerala reported 23 deaths due to COVID-19 on Thursday whereas 7,789 people tested positive to the virus, 7,082 patients have recovered from the disease and 94,517 patients are under treatment, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
Addressing a press conference here this evening, the CM said "Of the positive cases reported today, 6,486 persons were infected through contact and the source of infection was unknown in 1,049 cases. There are 128 healthcare workers among those infected."
He said "Today, 23 deaths were confirmed as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 1,089." The deceased were Kamalabhai (70), Sulochana (60), Leela (75), Narayanan (69), A V Krishnan (75), Shobhana (55), Noor Jahan (53), Revamma (59), Shakuntala (69), Thulasi (53), Abdul Salam (61), Fathima Beevi (88), Damodaran Nair (72), Sarath Sasidharan (29), Srinath (38) Thomas (71), Rajan (50) & Purushothaman (70) from Thiruvananthapuram district, Sulaiman Kunju (85) from Kollam district, Eliakutty (82) from Ernakulam district, Lazar (68) from Thrissur district and George (57) Babu (65) from Kozhikode district, he added.
