Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 6 (UNI) Kerala reported 25 deaths due to COVID-19 on Tuesday whereas 7,871 people tested positive to the virus, 4,981 patients have recovered from the disease and 87,738 patients are undergoing treatment in the State, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
Addressing a press conference here this evening, the CM said, "Of the positive cases reported today, 6,910 people were infected through contact and the source of infection in 640 cases was unknown. Total 111 healthcare workers were among those infected."
Meanwhile, 25 deaths were confirmed in the State as due to Covid taking the death toll to 884. The deceased are Brigitte (70), Sreedharan (63), Anthony Morris (64), Girija (59), Shaji (37), Tajuddin (62), Sreenivasan (71), Vijayababu (61) and Shankara Subramanya Iyer (78) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Kabir (63), Zubaida (52), Prabhavathi Amma (73), Sreekumar (52) and Charles (80) from Kollam district, Sathyan (65) from Alappuzha district; Sabu Jacob (53), Raju Kurian (75) and Shyamala (60) from Kottayam district; Etheri (75), Fathima (61), Sayedalavi (60) and Ibrahim Kutty (78) from Malappuram district; Balakrishnan (71) and P Raveendran (73) from Kannur district, and Raveendran (52) from Kasaragod district.
