Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 2 (UNI) Kerala reported 20 deaths due to COVID-19 on Friday whereas 9,258 people tested positive to the virus, 4,092 patients have recovered from the disease and total 77,482 patients are under treatment, Health Minister KK Shailaja said.
"Of the positive cases reported today, 8,274 persons were infected through contact and the source of infection of 657 was not traceable. Of those diagnosed today, 47 have returned from overseas and 184, from other states. 93 healthcare workers were among those infected. Both the new cases and recovery figures are single-day highest to be reported," the Minister said in a press release here this evening.
"Meanwhile, 20 recent deaths in the State were confirmed as due to Covid taking the death toll to 791. The deceased are Thankappan (82), Sasidharan (63), Abdul Aziz (52) and Shahul Hameed (66) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Faziluddin (76), Shatrughanan Achari (86), Ramesan (63), Nelson (56), Surendran (66) and M M Shefi (68) from Kollam district; Raseena (43), Neelakanthan Nair (92) and Abdul Hameed (73) from Alappuzha district; P N Shashi (68), Sugathamma (78), Sarojiniamma (81) and Sushila (54) from Kottayam district, Nirmala (74) and P V Viju (42) from Ernakulam district, and Devi (75) from Kozhikode district."
