Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 30 (UNI) Kerala reported 23 deaths due to COVID-19 on Wednesday whereas 8,830 people tested positive to the virus newly, 3,536 patients have recovered from the disease and 67,061 are under treatment.
"Of those diagnosed today, 7,695 are cases of local transmission and the contact source for 784 was unknown. 58 are returnees from foreign countries and 164 from other states. 123 healthcare workers are among those infected," a press release said here this evening.
Meanwhile, 23 recent deaths were confirmed as due to Covid taking the death toll in the State to 742. The deceased are Vasantha (68), Murali (55), Nataraja Sundaram (91), Sasidharan Nair (77), Abu Tahir (68) and Padmakumar (49) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Thankamma Varghese (75), Shari Rajan (47) and P Omana (63) from Alappuzha district, Sasidharan (65) from Pathanamthitta district, Anamma (65) from Kottayam district, Leela (82) from Ernakulam district; Lakshmi (75), Ammini (58), Gopalakrishnan (78), B C Krishnadas (55), Thankappan (68), Rafeeq (35), Ramankutty (80) and Mohanan (61) from Palakkad district, Prema (51) and Zainuddin (63) from Malappuram district, and Parameswara Acharya (68) from Kasargod district.
