K'taka govt issues order mandating private hospital to reserve beds for COVID-19 patients

Bengaluru, Jul 19 (UNI) In an attempt to tide over the scarcity of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients, Karnataka Government on Sunday issued orders, mandating the private hospitals to reserve exclusively a 50 per cent of their strength in their institutions.
In an order issued here, under the Disaster Management Act 2005, the Chief Secretary, TM Vijayabhaskar had stated that Private hospitals should make available their resources of Hospital beds for the purpose of admitting COVID patients referred by the Brihath Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorised persons.
The state government, while issuing orders, had also constituted a group of officers to ensure that private medical institutions would adhere to the order and admit patients for treatment of COVID-19 disease.
