Hyderabad, July 17 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, known as KCR, on Sunday has cancelled his aerial survey, to assess the impact of the flood situation at Bhadrachalam-Kothagudem district in the state, due to bad weather.
As part of conducting aerial survey in the flood-hit areas in Godavari territory, KCR, along with official machinery, reached Hanmakonda on Saturday evening.
He left by road from Hanmakonda to Bhadrachalam in the morning today to visit the flood affected areas instead of aerial survey cancelled due to inclement weather.
The Chief Minister accompanied by Ministers Harish Rao, Dayakara Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumari, public representatives and senior officials will visit the flood affected areas in Bhadrachalam and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.
Later, he will discuss with the officials on the current flood situation, relief and rehabilitation programmes before reviewing the situation in Eturu Nagaram and Mulugu mandals.
Chandrashekar Rao, on Saturday evening at Hanamkonda, stressed the need for the permanent protection plan to safeguard people residing in and around river Godavari catchment areas from heavy floods and inflows in the river every year.
KCR, while conducting a review meeting with Ministers and senior officials on the flood situation and damages caused by the recent rains in the erstwhile Warangal district, at the residence of senior TRS leader and former MP V Lakshmikantha Rao, directed officials to chalk out a comprehensive action plan to keep people safe during floods in river Godavari and shift the habitants from low lying areas.
He also suggested the officials to seek advice and opinions from the retired engineers in the irrigation department in this regard.
The Chief Minister directed Finance Minister Harish Rao to take immediate steps to release Rs 1 crore each to the Collectors of flood-ravaged Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Nirmal districts for emergency use.
