AP: SPWU VC calls upon women to be at forefront to achieve sustainable development

Tirupati, Oct 18 (UNI) Sri Padmavathi Women's University (SPWU) Vice-Chancellor Acharya V. Uma on Friday called upon women to be at the forefront of all matters to achieve sustainable development, inclusive governance and to prepare themselves to achieve women's empowerment.
If women's empowerment from Panchayat to Parliament is to be fully successful, women's leadership qualities and initiative in governance decision-making should be acknowledged in all matters, Prof Uma said while delivering the valedictory address on the second day of the national seminar on 'Women's Empowerment from Panchayat to Parliament in India: Achievements, Challenges and Participation in Decision-making Process', organized by the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI) in collaboration with the indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, held here.
Prof. M. Gopinath Reddy, Senior Consultant, Center for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad, who presided over the programme, said that empowerment of women should start at the village level and there are many opportunities for it to be strengthened at the national level.
