Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi strongly advocates for globalizing compassion

Hyderabad, July 22 (UNI) Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi strongly advocated to globalize compassion as we need compassionate people from all walks of life and compassionate political leaders.
Delivering the 22nd Convocation address of IIIT-Hyderabad in Gachibowli on Saturday, Kailash Satyarthi said that the convocation day is not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a day of gratitude towards those who supported the students on their journey.
He encouraged the graduating students to embrace the competitive world with confidence and shed their inhibitions and fears.
The Nobel Laureate advised the students not to prioritize materialistic pursuits and added that engineers are essentially problem solvers, urging them to work towards the betterment of humanity and the planet.
He highlighted the importance of inner peace and mental health and urged for increased focus and spending on education and healthcare to combat the growing mental health crisis.
Prof P J Narayanan, Director of IIITH, commended the graduating students for their skills and creativity, encouraging them to contribute positively to society.
The convocation saw 519 graduates and a record number of 25 PhDs and 195 Masters receiving their degrees.
Pratyanshu Pandey, B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) student, received the prestigious IIITH gold medal for his outstanding academic performance, and Kandala Savitha Viswanadh (Dual Degree in ECE) was awarded the Best All-rounder for remarkable contributions to academics, extra-curricular activities, and IIITH services.
