Natl Handloom Day: BRS urges unions & state govt to resume welfare schemes for weavers

Hyderabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Extending greetings to weavers on the occasion of National Handloom Day, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and former Industries Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday urged the Central and the State governments to rescue the handloom sector from the present crisis by resuming the weavers welfare schemes implemented during the BRS regime in Telangana.
In a statement here, KTR said Telangana made significant strides in the handloom sector during the ten-year BRS tenure, calling it a ‘golden era’ for weavers in the history of the country.
Under the visionary leadership of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the BRS government had earlier introduced several innovative schemes for the upliftment of the sector, he claimed.
