Thrissur, Nov 13 (UNI) Certain myths associated with diabetes are misleading and can hamper treatment, Advisor for National Programme for Prevention and Control of Diabetes Dr Naresh Purohit said on the eve of World Diabetes Day, here on Saturday.
"More than 60 million people are living with type 2 diabetes. For nine million people worldwide living with type 1 diabetes, having access to insulin turns the disease into a manageable condition," he said.
The most common form of diabetes, type 2, is usually found in adults. It occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or doesn’t make enough of it, according to recent WHO estimates.
