Gold smuggling case : 3 accused admit to crime ; NIA seeks extension of custody period to 180 days

Kochi, Oct 9 (UNI) National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a petition in the court to extend the custody period of the accused to 180 days in the gold smuggling case even as apart from Sandeep, three other accused have also admitted to the crime.
The custody period of the accused can be extended up to 180 days as per Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. NIA's petition was made on this basis.
A special appeal will have to be filed after 90 days. Hence, NIA had filed the plea.
