Hyderabad: Gold, foreign currency over Rs 1.12 crore seized at RGIA

Hyderabad, Sep 5 (UNI) Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, near here, seized a total of 1.64 kilograms of gold valued at Rs 99 lakhs and foreign currency worth Rs 13,19,303 from four air passengers on Monday.
In the first case, a passenger who arrived from Kuwait was intercepted and found to have discreetly concealed 1253 grams of gold, valued at Rs 75,80,650, in a dustbin in the men's toilet right after disembarking from the flight. The gold was seized, and the accused was arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
In the second case, a passenger who arrived from Bahrain was intercepted, and upon scanning and searching of their baggage, 233 grams of gold, valued at Rs 14,14,310, were found concealed inside a carry bag. The gold was seized under the Customs Act, 1962.
