Karnataka HC posts Muda case hearing to Sept 12

Bengaluru, Sep 9 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court on Monday adjourned hearing on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's plea challenging the legality of Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's sanction for his prosecution in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case to September 12.
The single bench of Justice Nagaprasanna also extended its interim order given on August 19 to the Special Court for People's Representatives to postpone its proceedings in the case till the next hearing date.
The High Court raised questions about the legality of the Governor’s preliminary inquiry into the matter. Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty, representing the state, asserted that only the police are authorised to conduct such inquiries under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, which governs investigations into public officials.
