Bengaluru, Oct 31 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has levelled accusations against the BJP, claiming the party is using the Waqf land issue as a political weapon in anticipation of the upcoming assembly bypolls and election in the neighbouring Maharashtra.
Farmers from various regions in Karnataka have alleged that their lands have been incorrectly classified as Waqf properties.
In response to these allegations, Siddaramaiah assured the affected farmers that eviction notices, particularly those issued during the BJP’s tenure, will be revoked. He condemned the BJP for its 'dual politics,' highlighting that over 200 eviction notices were issued under their administration.
In contrast, the BJP is mobilising for a statewide protest scheduled for November 4, demanding the resignation of BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, the Minority Welfare and Waqf Minister.
Bypolls in Karnataka are set for November 13 in Channapatna, Shiggaon, and Sandur.
