Air India partners with Hindustan Group to build licensed AME talent pipeline amid fleet expansion

Hyderabad, Jan 28 (UNI) Air India Limited on Wednesday entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Institute of Engineering and Technology (HIET), part of the Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI), to address the airline's growing demand for licensed aircraft maintenance engineers as it scales operations and expands its fleet.
Announced at Wings India 2026, the country's flagship civil aviation exhibition at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, the partnership will establish a DGCA-approved Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) Cadet Programme, creating a structured, long-term talent pipeline for Air India.
Under the agreement, HIET—approved under DGCA CAR 147 (Basic)—will provide training for Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) and Category B2 (Avionics) engineers selected through standardised processes aligned with Air India's operational and maintenance requirements.
