Chennai, Sep 15 (UNI) Members of the Congress, an ally
of its principal Opposition DMK, were evicted from the
Tamil Nadu Assembly for disrupting the proceedings
during the heated debate on the NEET issue.
During the debate on the Special Call attention motion
give notice of by the Opposition parties on the recent
suicide of four students due to fear over cracking the
NEET exams, Congress Floor leader K R Ramasamy
objected to ruling AIADMK member Inbadurai's remarks
that the NEET was brought by the Congress-led UPA in
2010 in which the DMK was part of the alliance.
The AIADMK member also said that it was Senior Congress
leader and former Union Minister P Chidmabaram's wife
Ms Nalini Chidambaram who had argued in favour of NEET
in the court.
Objecting to it, Mr Ramasamy urged Speaker P Dhanapal
to expunge the remarks.
As the Speaker refused, the Congress members were on
their feet and persisted with their demand and also disrupted
the proceedings.
After his repeated pleas asking the Congress members
to resume their seats went unheeded, Mr Dhanapal directed
the watch and ward staff to evict them from the House.
Later, talking to reporters, outside the Assembly Hall
at Kalaivanar Arangam, Mr Ramasamy said the Speaker
has refused permission to reply to the charges.
He also said when the NEET was introduced in 2010, it
was the prerogative of the States to implement it or not.
'We want to putforth this point, but denied permission',
he added.
He also objected to the reference of Mr Inbadurai and
said an issue which took place outside the House should
not be discussed.
