Hyderabad, Oct 13 (UNI)The special session of the Telangana Assembly, specifically convened to enact new legislations, began here on Tuesday by following the COVID-19 safety norms.
During the one-day session, the Assembly will adopt amendments to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act to provide 50 per cent reservation for women in the 150 divisions of the Corporation.
The house is also expected to pass amendments to some other bills as suggested by the state High Court.
Doing away with the customary question hour, the house took up bills straight away, amid elaborate arrangements to maintain physical distance and regular sanitisation of the premises, in view of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The house took up discussion on the bills after Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao tabled the GHMC amendment bill and other ministers on different departments..
Tight security arrangements were also made in view of the special session and also "chalo Assembly" call by BJP, CPI and unemployed youth organizations.
The Bills passed by the Assembly today will be placed before the Council which will be convened for its special session on Wednesday.
