Telangana to promote oil palm cultivation : Minister

Hyderabad, Sep 10 (UNI) To grab edible oils market demand in the country and reduce its imports, the Telangana government was strongly committed for promotion of oil palm cultivation in the state, Minister for Agriculture S.Nairanjan Reddy said in the Assembly on Thursday.
India had spent Rs 79,000 crore for importing edible oils from other countries in last year and out of which Rs 40,000 crore were spent for import of palm oil alone from countries like Malaysia and Indonesia, Mr Reddy said.
Replying to a question from members in the house during the question hour, the Minister said the government identified suitable lands for promotion of oil palm cultivation.
