Puducherry, Sep 3 (UNI) AIADMK legislators A Anbazhagan and Vayyapuri Manikandan on Thursday resorted to a dharna in front of the office of the Director of Medical Services (DMS) demanding constructive measures to curb the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and reduce the death rate in the union territory.
Mr Anbazhagan told mediapersons that the spread of the virus in the UT was so fast that the union government had deputed a central team to curb the spread. But the state health department is not functioning as per the direction of the central team, he charged. At a time when 1,800 tests were conducted a day, Chief Minister Narayanasmay had announced that it will be increased to 3,000 tests a day. However, it was reduced from 1,800 a day to 1,300, he said.
Many persons with COVID-19 symptoms are directly reaching the hospitals and even then they are not being tested he said adding that if the Chief Minister's words on having more testing kits are true then why has the testing reduced.
