Puducherry, Oct 2 (UNI) Volunteers of the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on Friday resorted to a fast to condemn the assault on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and manhandling Priyanka Gandhi allegedly by Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday, after detaining them, while they were on their way to Hathras village in Uttar Pradesh to meet the family members of the Dalit girl, who was gangraped and murdered allegedly by upper caste men.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy inaugurated the fast and left the venue in ten minutes to garland the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.
Mr Narayanasamy who returned to the fasting venue, while addressing the gathering charged that, there was an “autocratic” BJP-led NDA government headed by Narendra Modi at the Centre.
