Two MLAs, several YC workers held as they staged sit-in dharna in front of police HQs

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 18 (UNI) Two MLAs and several Youth Congress (YC) workers were arrested and removed when they staged a sit-in dharna in front of the state police headquarters here on Friday in protest against the brutal lathicharge on party workers across the State.
The MLAs raising slogans against the CPI(M)-led LDF Government alleged that several Congress workers were brutally lathicharged in several districts on Thursday and today when they staged protest marches demanding the resignation of Higher Education Minister KT Jaleel who was quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case.
Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy condemned the police action and criticised the police lathicharge against those who were even lying on the road due to injuries.
