Congress workers stage dharna protesting against soaring petrol, diesel prices

Kakinada, Jul 4(UNI) In response to the all given by the party national president Sonia Gandhi the Congress party workers have staged a dharna in front of the Kakinada rural Mandal Tahasildars office here on Saturday protesting against the rise in diesel and petrol prices for the past few days.

Led by Pradesh Congress general secretary Nulukurti Venkateswerarao, the protesters raised slogans demanding the rollback in diesel and petrol prices and denouncing the government for causing untold hardships to people by such unfair decisions while the entire country passing through a critical phase due to Corona pandemic.

They criticized the government for enhancing the taxes on litre petrol from Rs 9 to Rs 33 and on diesel from Rs 3.50 to Rs 32 during the past six years. Later they called on the Tahasildar in a delegation and presented a memorandum pressing for their demand.
