Vijayawada, Dec 31 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy warned to take stringent action against those who indulge in the desecration of idols in Hindu temples.
“The desecration of idols will not be tolerated and stringent action will be taken. The destruction of idols is atrocious and God will surely punish those who keep messing with temples and idols”, the Chief Minister said while addressing a review meeting here on Thursday.
Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the police to take strict action to prevent such incidents from happening again. The Chief Minister made the comments in the wake of the destruction of Srirama idol in the centuries-old Ramathirdham temple located atop the Bodhikonda hill in Vizianagaram district which sent shockwaves across the state and hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus.
